During School Vacation in Batuwangala MahaVidyalaya’s computer lab there was a training for students who wanted to practice web blogging More over.Aruna Sir was busy with the GCE OL exam duties.Four of our girls started their blogging practices during this vacation.Given bellow are pictures of them.Click on the names to go their blogs.

Student Blogging in Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya has increased during last six months rapidly and students of BMV are the first clan to do so in southern province.We would like to thank The Udugama Zonal Director and director for ICT education for their Guidance in this regard.
Batwangala Maha Vidyalaya’s students went to see Hambanthota Port last week.The field trip was organized to give a chance to the students to see the port and its building process.Principal Thilaka Wijenayake herself organized this with the help of the staff of BMV and she went on the field trip with the students.

First place to visit was The Agricultural farm at Bataatha.This was a place where students could see lot of agricultural specimens in real.Mr.Mahesh Wickramasuriya,The Agri teacher of BMV took the opportunity to describe each and every thing to the students.

Then Students went to see the Hambanthota building Port.They were happy to see such huge project lively and the mechanism there.Students were almost amazed by the huge construction equipments.Students were able to see the structure of the port.


Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya is more concern on renewable energy sources.Students could see the wind power electricity generating project.The huge fans which rotates using wind power amazed the students.
Then students went to see the process of making table salt. They could see the salt pan and see the process of converting sea water in to table salt.After that we left for hot water wells at Madunagala.This was another place the students could see the natural wonder of hot water wells.
Finally we went to the Hambanthota beach on the way back to the school.Students were left along to play on the beach for more than hour.All the students were very happy and a successful field trip was finished.
Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya conducted a pirith Chanting inside the school for blessing the GCE OL Students with their forth coming Examination.This was proposed and seconded at the e-kids society.Parents of grade 11 were all there and they build a nice “pirith kotuwa” for the Ceremony.Ven.Mawanane Amarawansa,The chief Buddhist monk of the area gave his fullest support to the Function.We started the event by in housing the relic by 8.30pm on 27th of October 2009.This Pirith chanting ceremony was lively web cased by the evillage students of Batuwangala evillage.

Sudath Withanachi,Vice principal of BMV in housed the relic.Then 12 of budhist monks strted the activity.First the Chief monk Ven.Mawanane Amarawansa Gave a Patronage speech and he blessed our Teachers for the idea of having this kind of activity inside the school.

The Students of Grade 11,their parents,The GCE OL students of naighbouring schools were sat inside of the main hall.Parents of Grade 11 Students had organized the refreshments while the pirith Chanting.

The chanting of pirith was concluded by the very morning of the following day and the students were blessed By the Pariwenadhipathi,Ven.Denagama Lankananda thero.

Then the parents got ready for the Arms giving in the morning and 12 of monks were participated for the event.Ven.Mawanane Amarawansa blessed the children with al the best for their examination and adviced that keep working hard as so far they have done and this kind of event blesses those who do not give up and try hard.

Finally the relic was out housed and the pirith Chanting was ceremonially Concluded by the 7am of 28th of october 2009.We would like to thank every one who helped us with this event.Speacially with to the parents and Villagers who gave their maximum support.We also aim to to this next year also and we believe this kind of event do help to strengthen the morality of students to face the examination.
Batuwangala Maha vidyalaya is going to have a “Pirith” chanting in side the school premises on 27th of October 2009.Chanting of Pirith is a Buddhist Religious ritual. It deals with the chanting of selected “Sutras” loudly and ceremoniously. Sutras are a religious precept which are composed in to hymns with a story behind them. They can be sung in rhythm and can be kept in mind easily. The selected Sutras contain precepts that relate to needs and day-to-day affairs of both lay men and priests.
This is to bless the students who are going to sit for the GCE O/L this December.We would like to invite to the whole world to be joined with us with this event.The Wining team of Mother Sri lanka debate series and the students who brought the BMV to the cyber space are from grade 11 who are going to sit for the Examination this time.
This event will be Lively Web cast from the beginning of the Pirith And until the mid night local time.We invite all the people from whole world to join with us.
Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya’s students organized a teachers day function to show their gratitude to teachers. This happened during the 9.00am to 2.00pm on 6th October 2009.

Two teachers who were given transfers to another schools were also gathered for the function. The principal lighted the oil lamp decorated by the students and opened the function.

Prefects welcome the teachers and the first item was a welcome song by the college quire. Then all the teachers were welcome to the stage and first teachers were given souvenirs by the prefect
board.

Then the students class wise came to the stage and worshiped to the teachers. This was taking so long coz all the students had prepared bookmarks, followers to talk to their teacher.


Grade 11 girls sung a song on “may you live long” for teachers. Then there were items by Grade six and seven also.
Mrs.Karunagamage who had been worked as a primary teacher in Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya for last 15 years were transferred to Galle education zone. Then she addressed the gathering. This was a sadist incident coz students who now are up to grade 14 had been her students.

Mr.Sarath Kumara the late mathematics teacher also was given transfer. He also addressed the gathering. Before Mr.Aruna Chaminda come to the Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya Mr.Sarath was the computer Learning Center Manager for the Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya. Then Mr.Sarath voluntarily gave the responsibilities to Mr.Aruna to Take over. Today Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya is the pioneer ICT institution In down south, Sri Lanka. We would like to thank Mr.Sarath for his initial step to develop the Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya. Also Mr.Sarath allow Mr. Aruna to conduct after school mathematics classes giving opportunity to students to have a spare teacher for the school work. So we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr.O.M.Sarath Kumara for his Conduct regarding Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya. We also wish him and the Primary teacher best of luck for their future.

After Mr.Sarath Kumara’s speech Primary teacher Mrs.Pema Addressed the gathering remembering their past memories as a school girl, Young women and a teacher, A close friend Mrs.Karuna Gamage.She wished good luck for our parting two teachers.

Then Wise principal Mr. Sudath Withanachi also addressed the gathering and advised to the children in teacher’s day. Finally Principal, Mrs.Thilaka Wijenayake Addressed the gathering.

She wished to the Parting two teachers and thanked to the Students for arranging such function. The teachers day function of Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya concluded at about 2.00pm.
Nihiluwa evillage students visited Batuwangala evillage today with Mr.Amal Gunawadrdena,Mentor,Evillage project,SEMP, ministry of Education, Sri Lanka. This trip is meant to build the friendship among the evillage children and Exchanging views and their ideas about currant ICT trends.

This programme will be last for two days and indoor as well as outdoor activities will be done.A field trip to Batuwangala evillage mini hydro power plant and Duliella is among the first day Agenda. Batuwangala evillage welcome the crew from Nihiluwa evillage and thank them for their voluble Advices for us to grow.

Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya Celebrated the children’s Day 2009 on 01.10.2009 at the school premises with the principal Mrs.Thilaka Wijenayake on the chair.All the school children were participated for the Children’s Day 2009 celebrations.There were series of activities organized by the teachers of the BMV with the help of students.First event was a drawing competition held class wise.The drawings were showed out in the classrooms.
The drawings were finally judged by the staff teachers and finalized by the Principal her self.Most of the students’ drawings were attractive and colorful.
The next event was musical chairs.Music was played over the school PA system and class wise students participated the game with their class teacher.
After the Musical chairs game the Main function started at the BMV main hall With principal Mrs.Thilaka Wijenayake on the chair and the BMV staff.Principal madam lighted the traditional oil lamp and opened the Function.
The function was colored by the Grade eleven girls first.They performed a Virindu.It was very significant item and of course the girls were performing at their best.
Next item was by primary Section Students.The ‘Ha..Ha..Hari Hawa…’ musical song was trained by the primary teachers of the BMV.

After that the students were given refreshments organized by the teachers of the BMV.Finally Vice principal Mr.Sudath Withanachi addressed the gathering with some moral advises to the children.After that Principal Madam gave her speech.She stressed on the 2009 children’s day Theme and advised and guided students.At about 2pm the Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya’s 2009 children’s day function was concluded.
G.C.E.O/L students have less than two and half months to sit for the Examination.Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya have implemented several projects to up hold the strength and confidence of students.From 6.30 in the morning students will have to come to the school and from 6.30 to 7.30 there will be English Sessions.The speciality is the CLC manager,Aruna Sir conducts this sessions using OHP and other Technologies related to Classroom.Among them Computers are given priorities.We do not use CEB electricity for this purpose.We use our own Hydro power plant’s power do do this session.
The power we generate through the Picohydrow power plant is still under test run and we believe we will be able to run more equipments in near future.We would like to thank Practical action And the Students of Open University of Sri Lanka for helping us to Have a Picohydro power plant.
Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya now lightened by this power during night time.And we believe we have been an example for sustaining development in Villages.Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations.
The term coined what has become the most often-quoted definition of sustainable development as development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”In this regard We,Batuwangala maha vidyalaya is confident and happy to see our villages expand their knowledge with the knowledge of their children work together to make this county even better.
Use of information and communication technology Education can lead to a range of beneficial education out comes. The technology has the enough potential to enhance the achievement of school going children as well as teachers ‘skill that are ready to face to the information era. Hence the teacher attitudes towards computer technology may be a significant factor in the implementation of use to computer in school system. It is very important to literate whole teacher community with information and communication technology.
In udugama Zone Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya has shown its’ capability of training community to use ICT.The evillage project is a bliss in this regard to the batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya.Today the Zonal director of Education For Udugama Zone Mr.D.S.Nandasena, Assistent Zonal director of Education For Udugama Zone Mr.P.G.Witana, And ICT facilitator for Udugama Zone Mr.H.M.Premadasa visited Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya and It’s computer Lab.
BMV computer Lab is a place which is always full of students.We would like to thank Zonal director of Education For Udugama Zone Mr.D.S.Nandasena, Assistent Zonal director of Education For Udugama Zone Mr.P.G.Witana,And ICT facilitator for Udugama Zone Mr.H.M.Premadasa for visiting us and we are looking forwed to work with this project.Vice principal Mr.Sudath Withanachi were also present.
